The Swahili Safari Coast is a historically and culturally distinct region with
its own port of entry at Mombasa’s Moi International Airport and the Kilindini
Cruise Ship Terminal.
This is a separate land of great diversity and unique attractions with
glorious all year summer and warm nights, genuine hospitality, fabulous
beaches, amazing landscapes, beautiful lakes and magnificent wildlife.
There is a vast array of accommodation from luxury tented camps and
lodges, private ranch stays, and beach villas and hotels to suit every taste
and pocket.
For the first time visitor, these delights can be disturbed by third world
scenes of stick and mud villages, children begging, buses belching smoke,
potholes in the road, overloaded handcarts pulled by straining workmen.
The rude fact is that the coast is part of a developing nation on a
developing continent.
The Coast, however, has a long history of tourism development with a
sophisticated infrastructure of well maintained game parks and private
conservation areas. Hotels, airlines, tour companies and marine operators
all subscribe to codes of practice through their respective Associations.
There is a 24hour Safety Centre and an equipped Tourism police Unit. Civil
Society is active and looks to partner with the Government to bring about
beneficial change. Your holiday will not only help government revenues
through taxes but staying at a private conservatory will bring direct
improvements to local communities
In Swahili we say HAKUNA MATATA. No worries. The beauty of the coast
